AML (anti-money laundering)
AML is the set of rules and procedures banks and payment companies use to detect and block transactions that look like money laundering.
AML controls include customer checks (KYC/KYB), transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and reporting suspicious activity to the regulator. Requirements come from local law and FATF recommendations.
For merchants, AML shows up as questions about source of funds, beneficial owners and corporate structure, and as payout holds when activity looks unusual — a sudden volume spike or many payments from one country.
A ready document pack and a transparent payout setup — which accounts, which currency, who the final beneficiary is — speed up the review.
